Gathering Apples is hard on the back for some of us. If raked into a pile, it makes it much easier. I was using a garden rake upside down and it helped a lot. Today we took a 3" X 26' piece of steel and welded it onto that garden rake~~Turned it into a Real Apple Gathering Machine. I gathered up all the apples under 2 trees in less than 10 minutes. If you have many trees, you may want to try something like this.

I've got a few Tuff boxes I store corn in, I'll usually throw a handful of apples in them towards the end of of apple season. Let them turn to mush. It really makes the corn smell like apples. Works great come January.
