Hedge trimmer repair / JB Weld question

My dad had an old hedge trimmer that quit working for him about 7 or 8 years ago. Basically when you went to pull start it, for some reason it would not turn the cylinder over.
When I was back for a visit last month I grabbed it from him to see if I could get it running (he has long since bought a new one).
Just tore into it and found this. Looks like there was a pin between the pull start and drive shaft that has seen better days.
Question is does anyone have an idea on how to best fix this on the cheap?
Will JB Weld hold it together? I know I would never be able to take it apart again, but am not worried about that.
Other thoughts?

I'm not so sure that isn't just a shear-key. I would definitely look up the parts manual on line and see if I could get one. Most were separate for a reason. Our experiences with JB Weld at work were not so good on applications like this.

Shear key was there for a reason...

Unfortunately the shear key is not separate with this flywheel.
From what I read it can shear if the clutch gets loose, causing the flywheel to vibrate. I just spun the clutch off with my hand so that is what probably happened to the key.

Thinking about maybe using the dremel to make a key way on the fly wheel then getting some keys stock and making a key. Fuel lines are also completely dry rotted so it may just go to the dump. Something to tinker with anyway.

So I got a key in there and also got a repair kit for the fuel lines.
Got it all put back together, but when I press the primer bulb it won't draw fuel. I did remove the air cleaner and dripped some gas directly in the carb and it fired, but of course for only a few seconds.
And ideas? Fuel filter? Something clogged at the front of the carb? Why does pushing the bulb not draw fuel? I could only see a drip in there after I pushed it about 100 times.

Sounds like it's getting air in the line. Maybe the bulb has a pin hole or crack that's breaking suction. Check everywhere and everything.

How about the tank? It might be gunked up as well. If it fired when you dumped fuel in the carb, I'd say the carb is just fine. No fuel getting that far and you replaced the lines...process of elimination points to the tank.

Two of my hedge trimmer are at my uncle's house. He is fixing it for. I tried to look up youtube and fix it myself but couldnt come up with anything. The carburetor needed replace. Couldnt rebuilt the carburetor. So i saved alot og money by not buying another hedge trimmer. I really needed that at the farm over the weekend but he has been really busy working.

Tank is as clean as a whistle.
I suspect the 'little holes' in the carb may be plugged on the intake side.
And as J suggested, I also suspect the filter on the end of the supply hose in the tank. It looks fine, but who knows....
I'll take the carb apart and soak it. If that don't work, I'll just remove the filter on the end of the hose.

I actually got it running!
Bought a can of Gum-Out and took the carb apart and sprayed it good. Then hit it with some air in all the little holes and such.
Put it back together and the primer filled right up. Started on the first pull!
I only let it run for a little bit, and it doesn't seem to want to wind out (sorta bogs at full throttle). Hoping that is just a little bit of messing with the adjustment screws.
Thanks for all the tips!
