Need to off load this thing and would like to maximize return while minimizing effort. Has 260 hours, new blades, new belt and the deck is still solid. Problem is it'll need an engine overhaul as I'm fairly convinced it's got a bad seal.

Wanting to sell in As Is condition. What's it worth? $100-200? IMG_4218.jpg

I'd say you are in the right ballpark area. I bought a JD GS30 36" Commercial Walk Behind Mower from a guy that thought it had a blown motor for $160. I was able to turn the engine when I went and looked at it and all it needed was a new pull starter and not to be pulled on when it was at the top of its strike cycle. So I practically stole it! Anyway, with the low hours id value it at a couple hundred bucks.

I'm fairly certain you can get a Kohler or Kawasaki "crate" motor brand new for 500-600. Probably even cheaper for a Briggs.

These JD tractors are throw away tractors. I call them fake JDs. I have one that is going on 10-11 years. The thing is a price of shit, but as hard as I've ran it it's do e well.

Wife's grandpa has a mint 70's tractor that runs like a top. Bought mine new for $1,200 in 2009. Got 8 years of hard mowing out of it, so $150 a year to keep my place looking good. Hard to argue I didn't get my monies worth in today's manufacturing and consumer economies...

We put about 150 hours a year on a mower here at my place... That puts your mower about two years old for our use. Just to give you an idea why I have my bitterness.

Back on topic, if you are happy with it, go see what they'd do on trade in. If nothing else, I'm sure they'd take a couple hundred off the top. Unless you aren't looking to replace it. Then I'd just pay it forward to someone.

I made a compromise with my dad that I'd mow his house if I could use their mower at mine. We plan to buy their house next year and he had planned to leave his mower behind and just use his Kubota at the new place. I'm debating purchasing a small 20-25hp tractor after we get moved, so I don't want to waste money on a mower until I figure that out. Kinda in limbo on the grass cutting front, just glad I could strike a deal with pops!

You mowing 10 acres a week? My neighbor mows 3 acres about twice a week. Traded in his 10yr old mower with 350-500hrs on it. He is a lawn mowing crazy man. That is all he does. My point is, 150hrs per year on a residential property is a TON!

Jesse- I would think $100-200 is a pretty fair deal for someone. With a little mechanical ability they may swap a seal and get 10yrs out of it.

6 acres about every 4-5 days, plus she uses it to pull a cart around the yard with her daily gardening/flower beds. That's why I wanted a zero turn...she bought the stupid tractor style and I refuse to mow with it. Takes entirely to damn long!

Went to let the chickens out and an old guy backs up the driveway and says: My wife said their was a mower for sale here? Told him I sat it out Saturday afternoon for a few hours for $100, but set aside for a buddy's dad that wanted it. Told him what was wrong, then his son pulls out two crisp $50s and says he'll take it. I got the battery pack out and fired it up so they could see the rear end was good. They were pleased, I'm pleased.

I'd try $350obo. Maybe I'm crazy but I think it's worth at least that much. If someone just needed the deck that'd be worth it to them plus they get the wheels and a bunch of other spare parts with it.
