Its that time again. The Black Raspberries are coming on in Licking Co. We got some rain today but the berries are suffering. Many so far are small due to mass heat and no water. Did manage to pick close to 7 quarts so far.
They are starting to come on out here too.
We spent a few hours yesterday picking, then canned them up after dinner. I'm thinking next weekend will be the mother-load haul as most were just not quite ready.
My daughter Reese came across the fawn in the pics. Funny thing is, in all the years of my life and time spent outdoors, that is the first time I have even saw a bedded fawn.
My dad absolutely loves homemade raspberry jam so I will be bringing him several of these when I visit in July. Basically raspberry flavored sugar!
Took my lunch break at the farm with the girls today. Picked 4-5 cups worth in 30 minutes. I have lots left to pick, but the birds and heavy rains have taken their toll already too.
Thanks fellers. We will have blackberries out the ass this year. Not big berries, but bunches of them. I will likely recruit some help once they are ready so we can take full advantage of the bounty!
