Just depends on where you are in the state. Here in NW Ohio they are seemingly as thick as blackbirds in some areas. I was told the eagle population density in the Lake Erie Marsh region is the highest in the entire lower 48 states. But they're also showing up in many other parts of the state fairly regularly. Pretty sure they were taken off the state threatened list a few years ago. Still protected by the feds though.

In SW Ohio Butler County there are several nesting pairs each year. It's just old news here now.

I'm in northern Huron county, just a few miles south of mother Erie, they are everywhere. My mom and step father stopped by this evening and shared a story of one reeking havoc on a squirrel nest on their property just south of Monroeville over the weekend. It kept coming back until the entire nest was empty and torn to shreds lol. Said they shared pictures and video on Facebook.

We see them here in Hancock with regularity. Coolest thing was last fall sitting in my treestand overlooking a cut bean field, I had a mature Eagle eating on some sort of a dead critter a hundred yards away in the open field

Being here on the river in the SE, we see them on occasion. Usually juveniles for some reason, but we have seen a few white heads while waterfowl hunting.

Are you sure they aren't Golden Eagles? Golden's are a bit more fun to watch IMO. They are very similar looking to an immature Bald Eagle, at a glance. I see more Golden's around here in the southern half of the state.

They're not Goldens. We saw one while talking to a DNR biologist who confirmed. These have the barred look with the whiter feathers, so they're not as "clean" looking as a Golden.

Golden Eagles are EXTREMELY rare in Ohio. Anyone who thinks they see a golden is almost always looking at a juvenile Bald Eagle. They don't get the white head and tail until they're at least 4-5 years old.

Not specifically directed at you, Giles... I know you lived in Alaska so I'm sure you've seen an eagle or two. Lol

I fished a few places that the eagles would wait while you filet the fish. Then you'd throw it and they'd grab it about the time it hit the water. Pretty cool...

Just saw an adult perched in a tree along one of the little lakes just E of the Logan exit on 33. Made my 600 mile day well worth the drive!
