Thought I would start a random turkey scouting thread to see what's going on around the state.

I have been out 2 of the past 3 mornings. Tuesday I heard a group gobbling on the roost in the distance. This morning there was a flock of hens and at least 2 toms across the road from the cabin. There was also a few gobbling just off our property but they made their way onto us before going silent.

I'm afraid this early warm weather will hurt us. Last year March was very hot and by the time season came in they were done breeding in our area. This season is 6 days later....not good.

Last week or the week before, the hens were on fire every morning here at my place. I haven't heard them this week. I rarely hear a gobble, I think them birds are a thing of the past.

Everyday a flock of 10-40 turkeys come out of the brush line to the east of my house and go through my yard straight to my front cattle pasture to pick corn out of the cow patties. Not really sporting but have seen several nice long bearded Toms.

Haven't gotten excited yet I'll get out a few days before season and scout. I'm going to keep an eye on some public down by my house might go look for sheds on it this weekend. Most of the time around here they use the same areas year after year. And if there in those areas now they won't be in another month.

I went for a walk today, lots of scratching and droppings. I won't get back out for a week. Had pics/videos of Toms strutting their stuff.

I was able to get out this morning in a light rain. It's too bad we are 7 weeks away from season, there was one on the perfect point. He gobbled hard and often even after flying down. When I left at 8:00 he was still gobbling and had picked up a couple buddies.

The group of 15 long beards that have been around the house lately has dwindled to the standard 3-4 that I start seeing mid-March. Same has happened at the farm. Seems like I am seeing more 3 year old or older birds than I can recall in my short career.

Saw a flock of about 50 hens, 8 jakes, and two longbeards (both strutting) this morning. Seemed odd there was only two longbeards, drove two miles down the road and saw 3 longbeards together crossing in front of me.

Went to my son in laws property to do some field watching. My son got a phone call from his wife saying her water just broke. On a different mission now...WOOHOO!

Congrats Mike!

Got permission to hunt the farm north of ours today. I don't need to venture too farm over the line to have better hunting since they have the field that borders our hardwoods. Just being able to set up along the field is a game changer. Scouted that edge this afternoon and there is great roost sign under a big oak that makes our NW corner. Helped pumped me up for the season!
