Ok... We plant food plots and put out minerals.. Does anyone fertilize any oak trees??? I read about this years ago, so fiqured what the heck lets give it a shot... So went and bought 2 bags of cheap fertilizer at walmart and headed to a nice white oak and spread it around.. Took about 2 or so years, but it did appear to start producing more and bigger acorns...

I used to know an old man in Vinton County that hunted the same stand on the same oak flat Ridge top for years. One year right after season I saw him parked in his usual pulloff spot and knowing he wasn't hunting I walked in to talk to him. I found him drilling holes in the ground with a 2 inch auger bit on a cordless drill and pouring fertilizer in the holes. He would come in every spring to this white oak flat and and do that and he said every year those oaks would produce like rain. I don't know if he killed any slobs as he was pretty secretive but I'm willing to bet if it didn't work he wouldn't have been doing it
