That sucks, as i hunt in jackson and ride those rds.
In the part that I frequent we don't see big herds of deer, didn't see all that many rd kills.
Don't know how they get their data but in that area the population can't stand more kills.
I know jackson is a large co. overall, and maybe some parts are loaded, not in the area we hunt.
Would be nice if they(odnr)would take a survey by license per co. and allow us as stewards of the land to really give our(more to the residents as I'm a nr so I don;t have no say) input, as we probally are the ones that provide the most money for that part of the wildlife funds.
Think i read somewhere that hunters spent somewhere around 850,000 million plus in revenue this year.
You guys have an awesome state for hunting, would just like to see more hunter involvement with the odnr,
The wife and i are talking retirement later in years.

When are these knuckleheads going to open up the tried and true deer rounds? The original brush guns? 30-30, .35..... Yeah I have ulterior motives lol

"J" Now your talking... I started out hunting with a 35 Marlin in the Laurel Mountains of Western Pa. back when I was 12... Never mind when that was.. LOL Still have 2 of the older Marlin 35's... Like you said very hard hitting brush gun and deer dropped in their tracks when hit by that 200 grain bullet... Hey if they legalized 35's could I use my 35 Whelen??? My brother has an old Winchester 38/55 that's straight walled so should be good.. Load that sucker up and it was front end heavy.. We bumped into a guy hunting in Pa. years ago and offered him $1000.00 for it on the spot... He declined...

OK... The deer herd in Ohio... I haven't hunted Ohio in 3 years, but from what I read on here it seems to be declining.. Maybe EHD had a big effect on it years ago in certain areas. Maybe its the bag limits the ODNR has in place. One good thing the ODNR has in place is a "ONE BUCK" limit per year.. This in my estimation is one of the reasons you guys are killing decent deer year in and year out. Now if only the killing of button bucks was curtailed.. Maybe you should have to use your buck tag if you kill a button buck?? Just a thought guys... Don't hang me... But I've said it in another post or TOO on here... IN THE END WHO PULL'S THE TRIGGER??? Let the state make the bag limits... IT'S YOU THAT PULL'S THE TRIGGER... I always say its great to have some large tract's of land posted in every county or town, "NO HUNTING PATROLED".... This gives a safe haven for the deer to survive, thus there will be a few around TOO breed.. Think about it: Why are most of the 200+ inch deer killed in suburbs??? They get in areas where there is no hunting allowed, therefore they get some age and grow to be mega bucks.. And there is always the discussion of a non-resident leasing up hunting land.. Again in a lot of instances its not a bad thing... If I invest my time and money in a piece of property I'm not making a 7 hour drive, spending all that money to shoot a dink or a doe.. So they once again have a refuge to hide on... Who benefits??? The surrounding land owners that hunt.. I leased a small tract in Athens County several years ago and never shot a single deer on it. Have no desire to shoot a doe and passed on several 130 class bucks every year... Again not what I came to Ohio for... Unfortunately the property was sold... Someone was rewarded by my passing on all those deer..

Look at it this way.... If you think Ohio bag limits are extreme, check out New Jerseys.... A/H's have been shooting deer since Sept. with some areas still open into Feb... And... In many areas its unlimited does... YES I SAID UNLIMITED... I believe the current buck limit is: 6 BUCK'S... YES I SAID 6 BUCK'S... Some of these buck tag's are an additional tag that you must purchase along with your normal permit...(money making scheme).. And some people shoot a ton of deer.. Why: Because they like to get on the band wagon and beat their chest and brag... Hey look at me I shot 15 deer this year... Then the same A/H's bitch the following year when their not seeing any deer... MORON'S...

We have a thriving bear population in the state.... So what do the A/H's in our Fish and Game do??? Last year they had an early season with bow along with the normal six day firearm season in Dec. Not a bad thing.... BUT... They allowed you TOO shoot 2 bears, one in each season... Now WTF do you need to kill 2 bears in one year for??? Several people shot bears over 500lbs and were losing sleep over not shooting the second bear... A 500 lb bear produces a lot of meat... ALOT OF MEAT!!!! Plus the going rate to butcher them is $1.00 a pound... So a 500lb bear is $500.00 to butcher... So why not be happy with one??? Cause they gotta beat their chest and brag that's why... GREEDY SUM BITCHES.... Then they will bitch when then get wiped out... But then again since Pedals got shot and Christie is done... I'm sure the new governor will stop the bear hunts as TOO many people are crossing over the fence and bitching about Pedals...

Ok... You guys got me rolling... Think I'll go shovel snow.... Spring is coming....
