Dishwashers...

She didn't say anything...but ("there's always a but") it looks like the trusty dishwasher is back at it. Looks like the mechanical one has finally quit.

I believe it's the original in the house so that would put it around 10 years old. GE QuietPower3 is the make and model. Stove and microwaves are also GE and a whirlpool fridge. I kinda like keeping things things the same, but does anyone else have anything that is lasting better? We have never had good luck with dishwashers or garbage disposals!

We have a well, does that make a difference?

My poor wife has enough things to do, it'd be nice to get her one that works. I don't mind spending money on things like this. So if someone suggest a high end one that actually works as advertised, price won't effect me. But as of right now, I don't know what to do. Research is going to start right now! Your reviews are going to hold higher then things I'm going to read elsewhere though.

With a family of 5 and always having guest, this thing runs multiple times a day.

Thanks in advance!

With real hardwood floors, it's looking like the commercial ones are out of the question. Lots of people taking about them leaking. Manufactures saying it's except able because they are designed to be in wash rooms.

I have an LG dishwasher. Had it about 12 years now and the only trouble I've had was a heating element last summer which is to be expected after 12 years. 25 bucks and about an hours work and she was good as new. I think it was about $900 new. What i like about it is its super quiet. Even standing in front of it you'd be hard pressed to know it's on.

Be careful with online reviews. Nobody ever does a review on an appliance unless they have problems with it. They can be pretty skewed.

We upgraded all of our appliances a few years ago. Went with Samsung. The dishwasher is the only thing we've had an issue with. Started leaking. They sent someone out to fix it, no problems since. Its a little noisy, but the dishes get clean.

our KitchenAid is 14 years old and still going strong. it's stainless inside and out, runs very quietly and gets our dishes clean. about 8 years ago a small plastic connector in the water supply cracked which did cause a small leak, but only while the washer was running. I was able to get the $10 part for it, but it took a couple of hours to get it repaired. seems like we paid $500-$600 for it back in 2003.

We have a cheapy dish washer that was a closeout at Lowes. Sub $200 if I remember right. It has had a couple issues with the electronics but seems to have corrected itself? I know. Sounds made up. Surprised the heck out of me. Once you have an issue they usually just get worse. That said, it has lasted around 10-11yrs now. Hard to complain about that.

With well water, do you have a good softener? Or, have you had your water tested to see if your softener is adequate? Best thing we did was to dump our old softener and replace with a Kinetico softener. It cost us a couple grand but has been well (no pun intended) worth it. No more salty film on ice cubes. Hard water stains and iron stains significantly reduced. The wifey will even drink the water now. I've read and heard from older generations that all appliances will last longer. From washing machine and dish washer to coffee makers and even TVs. I couldn't tell you how it makes TVs last longer without speculation. I really don't know. Just what I've read.

My first one lasted 15 months (frididaire). It leaked all over the floor and rippled my new flooring. Bought a Maytag next and it's now 2 years old. No issues yet.

We have stuck with Whirlpool even though they aren't what they used to be. The last one lasted we think 20+ years. We waited a while before replacing it just because of $$. My recommendation is to watch Best Buy stores and look at their scratch and dent stuff. The one we got was normally over $800 and ended up with one for about $400 because the Whirlpool emblem was missing from the front.

In all seriousness though ours is a GE Profile as is all of our other kitchen appliances and they're all about 11-12 years old. Dishwasher is still running great but our ice maker on the fridge took a shit a year or two ago and the internal light on out microwave burned out about the same time. It's built into the cabinetry so I just said FUGG it! Lol

Hope you can find a good deal on a reliable brand Giles.

Honestly, I'm still lost. It seems they don't make a good one, they all suck.

Probably going with one that has a stainless tub, they seem to hold up well. The Bosch 800 series people seem to like.

I'm all about the scratch and dent sales. That's how we got our fridge. Sears has an outlet store in perrysburg that we like to visit from time to time. I don't even know where the closest Best Buy is even at!

Closest one to you Dave is probably going to be the one on Waterstone Boulevard off of Fields Ertel.

That didn't help! Lol, seriously. I don't leave my little area if I don't have to. Last weekend was the first time since we moved here, we went out. And went with my parents, lol. No joke. I was almost raped by some blonde hippie chick and some black dude in a white shirt kept buying me Vegas Bombs. You guys can have that city life, I'm not made for that shit. My stupid ass needs to stay in my garage! Lmao

Hell, half the brands are all made at Whirlpool anyways. That being said, I have a GE that the in laws bought us around 10 years ago. Never an issue. Like you Dave, we have lots of guests and dishes, so it gets used heavily. One thing I do is about once a month or two, I put some powdered Iron Out in the tablet holder and run it through like a normal cycle just to clean out any buildup

She uses CLR? Sound right? Grey bottle with big letters. She also uses baking soda.
