Anyone been there lately and have suggestions on must dos or what to see?
We booked a cheap flight last night and are taking the kids over their spring break.
Still looking for a place to stay so any suggestions on that TOO. Any particular key the best? Kids are only 8 and 9, so I think we will skip the Duval Street night life.

I've been many times.. Started going back in the 80's and been almost every year the past 5 years and almost every Key. Whatever you do,,, DO NOT STAY AT THE TAVANIER INN... NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO many things to do and see,,, Depends on where you're flying in to and where you plan to end up.
You gotta drive through the Key Deer Sanctuary (it says do not feed them but they love trail mix and will get in the car with you,, so i've heard. lol), Feed the Tarpon at Robbies, World Wide Sportsman in Islamorada, Must walk Duval street, maybe not at night but gotta walk it at least once.. Take the trolley train tour, Mel Fishers (Old friend of mine worked with Mel on that adventure.. RIP) Hemingway house and the list could go on..

Went there in August for "work". Duval street is okay before dark for the family. If you're into history check out Fort Zachary Taylor, its at the very tip of Key West. Also the Hemingway house is cool, and there is a brewery close to Duval that has good beer and food, cant think of the name right now. When are you heading down?? I will be heading down again for work at the end of March.

Second that!!!! We also rented a boat and drove out to some state reef grounds and did our own snorkeling. Also I forget where but some where along the drive there is a GIANT ship out in the middle of a field from the hurricanes( that just blew my mind lol)

We are heading down 3/11 - 3/18.
Just got a condo booked for the week through VRBO on Plantation Key.
Thanks for the suggestions. I looked up the tarpon feeding at Robbies on the web. My girls thought that looked pretty cool, so plan to stop there to eat one day. And we plan spend a day in Key West doing the tourist thing. I was there 25 or so years ago but that was of course without the family.
We are also considering taking a boat to Dry Tortugas National Park for the day. It's pricey, but vacation time is when I do let a few more moths out of my wallet than usual....

We go over to Ft Jefferson almost every trip because we usually have a newbie on board that has never seen it. It's cool to go through and read all the placards telling of how the soldiers lived while on the island. Also how it was the prison for Dr Mudd. (He helped John Wilkes Booth)
When you look at the fort and then think about the number of men stationed there.. You just can't imagine living like that.

At some point,, tell the wife and kids you need a little "DAD" time and go have a drink pool side at Dante's ... And if you can get the little lady to ducktape the kids in a closet for a few hours around midnight,, Check out the Garden of Eaden roof top.. :pickle:

Are you looking for a "homo sex palace"?

Man, I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to gay it up. rotflmao

I just heard over the years that Key West has got a lot of gays living there or visiting there. When it was mentioned don't stay there I figured it was either a dump or A place you and Chad would be interested in....rotflmao

Oh...don't you try and spin this the other way. I'm sure your search engine was smoking!

Do you clear your history? Or does your wife already know?

Lmao Giles!

The Garden of Eden bar certainly has an age limit or some kinda of standard to adhere TOO I would hope! Seriously though, that could end up being a bad memory forever etched in ones mind!:smiley_crocodile:
