im moving to ohio this spring from south western PA and i was wandering how the fishing is out there compared to here. i mainly fish for bass catfish and musky. ill be moving ot the zanesville area.
i live down by waynesburg. honestly the fishing sucks right here but if i drive about 2 hours north southn or east i get into some really good fishing so i was just doing some wishful thinking and hoping the new place im moving is going to have some better fishing. i mainly fish rivers for smallmouth and lakes for largemouth but i also love to go after some big bluegill, crappie, catfish, and muskies. isnt the miami river in ohio some killer walleye fishing?
Where in SW PA you coming from? I'm originally from Westmoreland County
That's about a 3.5 hour drive from you. The fishing is good when water conditions are right, but it's combat fishing. Nuts to butts, shoulder to shoulder.
Most rivers and creeks in Ohio will have good numbers of everything you listed except Muskie. Don't over look small creeks for smallmouth. Sure your not gonna catch any wall hangers, but it's fun to have nonstop action when you move from pocket to pocket.
I use really light gear, 4-6 lb test and it you catch a 2 lb smallie, it's a hell of a ride. Ultra light, fast action rod
Yep. Love using a crawdad lure on an ultra-light. Like you said you won't catch many fish over 12" but it is a blast.
