Buying Local

Just a reminder, although a little late I suppose, but this time of year the smaller mom and pop stores depend on the majority of their income from the holiday times. I'm like most of you, if it cost a Nickel to take a crap, I'd puke instead. But I've been trying to shop more local, whether it be food at the closest small grocery store, or nuts, bolts and random stuff at the local Hardware, or getting Auto Parts at the local Garage. If it means I spend just a buck or two more instead of going to Wal Mart, so be it. I can't stand going to Walmart. If I could keep my wife from there, I think we'd already have our kids college paid for.

Yesterday at the Grocery store I found several packs of Sirloin steaks that were marked down from $7.99 lb to $2.99 lb. Hell, it's hard to find cheap ground beef for that price, let alone Sirloins. Im sure they were put out Thursday or Friday and had to mark them down to sell. I took them home and vacuum sealed each one. Just remember, after holiday weekends, stores generally have a ton of meat that gets marked down super cheap

Sadly, the local grocery in my town closed the doors last year. The hardware store is holding on by a thread...I've never seen anyone besides myself at the local lumber yard... Walmart, Lowe's, and McDonald's up the road seem to be doing just fine though....pisses me off. Exactly why I go see Brock when I feel like having me a calzone, fuck these box places. And with the medical bullshit they have to deal with now....no wonder we only have corporations nowadays.

Sorry for the rant, please support your local "little guy" whenever you can. Trust me, they struggle to get by TOO. That $10-15 you might save by driving an extra 20 minutes is no savings in the long run.

Nothing to be sorry for there. I'm guilty of not doing enough to support the mom-and-pops. Good reminder.
