If this holds true and forecast is right, could make for a great 2 day gun season.

Looking good for southeast Ohio

I wish they'd do away with it

Understand and would be okay with it, but I enjoy gun seasons, I think Ohio does it right basically 2 weeks using a bullet to kill deer. I think we face a bigger problem of gun hunters taking this gun hunting mentality and trying to apply it to bow hunting, the woods are now full of fuggin idiots who don't have clue with crossbows. Nothing against crossbows I own 1.

Yep...gun season is a shadow of what it used to be. There was almost no shooting where I was at. Gun harvest will be lower than archery again. May not even waste time on the opener next year. I'm thinking about just waiting until Thursday evening to travel and hunting Fri-Sun.

I would like to see statistics on gun season state land participation resident v. non resident in East/Southern/Central Ohio. I think state land is gun hunting probably still increasing because of loss of access etc. I think as more and more people buy and lease large tracts of land- less shooting occurs, these people are selective. AEP land is perfect example its now leased out instead of public-significantly less people hunting it now and less shots.

I think most people are making this shift.

Public hunting (at lest in hocking) has been more enjoyable the last couple years with fewer people than in the past. Not sure why the decline but it used to be crazy. Just my observation

Maybe I'm wrong with my assumption, on facebook ohio hunting groups-people are bitching constantly about hunting pressure, but they could be stupid like most facebook posters.

I will say that you still have the usual "walk 50 yds from where I parked and expect a booner to walk by" crowd. I walked by 3 of those on my way into my spot that's no less than a half mile into the woods Monday morning. I've always had to hunt public so maybe I've just learned how to stay away from those idiots lol. Where I hunt there are literally thousands of public acres but I'd say 90% of the people probably hunt about 1% of that area. You just gotta be willing to work for it and most people aren't.

I've spent a ton of time hunting near long bottom. Turned into to far of a drive for me, but there are some biggins running around that area. Great genetics and shit tons of cover

A lot of folks are always bitching about something when things aren't going there way. It's the 'Blame Game'.

I've been down with a flu bug this week and haven't been out. Have done some driving around in my truck past diff properties and it seems like absolutely no one is hunting. Not even seeing guys in trucks or gas stations. Used to be obvious it was gun week. My sample size is small, but it is contrary to gun seasons of years past
