Vomitoxin

Sitting back talking just now about vomitoxin levels at work made me think about the effect on deer. I know it effects swines in a big way but didn't find much about deer when I just looked quickly. Does anyone have any idea? I can do more internet searching later tonight. Just wanted to start a thread so I didn't forget.

I know lots of farmers are running into this issue this year...it's become a hell of testing thing for us.

I'm thinking it's not a factor. Looks like Texas is taking caution with the Alpatoxin levels down that way some years back. Can't find any info for hard facts though.

From what I have gathered, it is a mold. This mold effects some animals and not others. It's been a royal PIA for us...as we have to test every truck.

Yup, it's in the corn this year. Those late rains and warm temps... we've had to turn more then a couple of trucks away. 6ppm+ is a no go

Being hooked onto a ethanal plant and their biggest buyer for grind is the swine market, we got a pretty good handle on what we can take.

I would have thought the bigger market would be for human consumption & beef feedlots. Kinda surprised to hear it's pigs.

Pigs, dogs, and cat food... at least for this purpose. It gets ground and somehow they extract whatever they make ethanol out of. Then sell the grinding.
