I am trying to stock up on some ammo, but am a bit lost.

I have a Ruger .38 special that is marked .38 special +p, but can I use just .38 special rounds in it, without the +p? (I'm having a hard time finding the +p)

The guy at Vance's said something about it being okay but "hot" but I have no friggin' clue what that means.

Also, on .22lr, is any fine? I see some is marked target, match, varmint and small game. WTF?

Thanks

+p means more than normal pressure (or "hot")

So if a gun is rated for +p, you can shoot ammo that is marked that way. It just means the gun can handle those loads. In your case, .38 special is what you need and +p is fine but not necessary and will have more recoil than normal loads.
