I recently purchased one of these to put out where the deer have cleaned up the mineral. I figure the deer will be cutting back on the trophy rock anywho and just wanted them to have a little snack. Any opinions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I started using Big & J's granular around middle of summer after the deer stopped hitting the other mineral. It worked pretty good and seemed to draw in more bucks than does as I started getting pictures of bucks rather than the does I had been getting. I think the block is simply the granular in block form. After a rain and a couple days of sunshine I walked up to check my camera one evening. About 60 yards from the site my brother-in-law commented that it smelled like a hog farm!! We had no clue what it was until we got to the site to check our camera. The Big & J's had molded and fermented after getting wet. I had to dig up everything I had put down!! 30 bucks down the drain. The block might show different results but I won't be wasting more money on the stuff. It works as long as it stays dry.

I have not used Big & J, but Rural King carries a similar product for $8. I bought 3 to try this summer. I have one at the farm, my parents and my house. It's good for trapping coons, not so much for deer. I won't buy any more.
