Never forget...

I was in a class during my carpenters apprenticeship coarse in Toledo, Ohio. I remember just how no one was even talking as we watched it unfold on TV... It took me a year to get pissed off enough to go join the military.

Take a moment to think about those families and friends of those who have given up so much because of this day.

God bless America

I was working on a drill rig outside Barberton Ohio. Red Chevy truck slid in sideways and began yelling. We went to the Service Truck and got it on the radio. Sad Sad Day Indeed. Something I will never forget.

I was sitting on a friends front porch talking with him. A very sad day for America. Sometimes I wonder if this country really learned much that day. I still see people come into this country every day and get free everything. Where will the American free lunch end.

On a good note, today is my wife's birthday.

My sister lived in NYC at the time, brother in law used trade tower subway stop to get to work. Couldn't get in touch with them because cell phone lines were jam packed full. Long sad day...

Long sad day, and then a surreal next few days after the FAA issued a ground stop for all flights.

I just remember looking up at the skies for several days and seeing no contrails, nothing - just empty skies with the exception of one very high flying aircraft which I'm guessing had to be military.

5th grade social studies we watched it on the news. You know it's really crazy my wife and I were talking a few minutes ago about the confusion. We were growing up in a time where we didn't understand what a terrorist was untill that day. We just thought a plane had an accident and didn't understand but terrorist is all our daughter will ever know growing up in today's world. Sad just plan sad.

Walbridge oh
The place I worked at back then gave us our birthday off so I was still in bed when my wife yells from the living room that a plane just hit the tower. I was like oh yeah thinking it was a little prop plane or something then a little later she says another one hit so I got up and was in complete shock. Was in the licence bureau getting my new plate sticker when the first tower fell.

I was a week in to my freshman year at OU. The first plane hit while I was in Econ 103. I had a political science class after that and when I walked in, someone said the WTC towers "fell" down. Over the next 30 minutes, we saw the 2nd tower get hit and were released from class. Cell phones were still a year or two from being prevalent, so I had to call home from a landline. It took almost 4 hours to get a free circuit to make a call.

This event was the first in my generation's time where we'll all remember where we were when it happened. Being at a liberal arts school and being involved in conservative student groups, it really shaped my college experience in a way that wouldn't have happened otherwise. No way I ever forget that morning...

I was stationed at FT Knox Ky and had just completing my annual refresher course for nuclear biological or chemical (NBC) attack. The base went on complete lockdown and max security. Needless to say everything got quite busy for the next few years.
