In Hamilton county or the surrounding Cincy area there has been 78(seventy fuggin eight) heroin OD's over the span of the last 2(two) days!!!!! That's fuggin pathetic!!! SMH
I have a strong opinion on this. Some people may not like it. I say fugg em. If they want to get hooked on this shit and kill themselves, so be it. Population norming. The unfortunate side is the people it affects. Families. I couldn't agree more with Amiri. Addiction is not a disease, its a choice. Some people just want to have a reason to blame others for their problems instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. Instead of choosing to do drugs and become the black sheep in society, why don't you choose to benefit your community, or at least your family. Addicts are basically selfish assholes who only think of their needs.

You're absolutely right. Physicians are handing out opiates like they are candy. It's ridiculous. A few months ago I was in the ER for trauma to the neck... freak accident, but quickly recovered. Despite me insisting that I was in NO pain, they gave me a prescription for 20 oxycodone tablets. Never took them. This week, I had my four wisdom teeth extracted. Pain was pretty minimal, but they gave me a script for 20 hydrocodone pills. Ibuprofen worked just fine. They hand out these opiate pain meds like they're getting paid to so it I swear.I've been watching a lot of drug documentaries lately and I don't think there is anyway to fix it. You bust one dealer, 10 more pop up. Easy money is too hard to pass up for some people. The people I feel bad for are the ones that get hooked on pain meds given by doctors. God forbid you try to actually fix the problem. Let's just mask it by using opiates. I understand pain meds have there place but they are prescribed if you go in with a hang nail. Other than those people i can't figure out what makes a person take that first hit. We are all educated now on how bad it is, yet people do it anyways. I think it really is a mental disorder.
Saying addiction is a choice is like saying depression is a choice.
I have lost several kids from my hometown to this drug.....
The issue I see with Amiri's post is that he doesn't understand addiction. Saying addiction is a choice is like saying depression is a choice. It is a chemical unbalance in the brain. I can name 100s of kids that make dumb choices when they are younger, and are fortunate that they have the will power, drive, etc to get out of the ruts. Many of these people who are hooked on this drug are young kinds (18-25). They took it at a party or got hooked by pain killers like Chad said. I can promise you the last thing these kids want to be is hooked on heroin. However the drug is so strong that if you do it, you are damn near hooked (I never have just from what I have been told/read).
So if a young man/girl dies in a car crash, do you all say you don't feel bad cause they deserved it. I mean it was their choice to be driving to fast right?
I empathize with anyone who is an addict, I pray those who don't understand it, never have to deal with one close to their own heart.

I totally disagree with this. I smoke and drink lots of coffee. I am a nicotine and caffeine junkie. In the mornings, you best not even try and speak to me unless it is to hand me a cigarette and a cup of mud first.
Do I have a disease? No. Do I have a chemical imbalance? No. I have an addiction. HOWEVER, it is something that I choose to do. Obviously, over and over again.
Blaming addiction to drugs on a disease downplays it.......as if it can't be helped.
