Today at work I was showing a new guy how to unload rail cars and somehow the dumbass smashed his finger. Had to go through a bunch of paperwork and blah blah blah.

Well, it got me thinking the rest of the day about all the stupid shit we all do on a daily basis. The stupid things that we put no thought into...these are the things that end up biting us in the ass.

So then it led me into thinking about things I don't do every day or all year around and hunting came to my mind! We had a couple of close calls from our TOO brothers last year.

I know it's early... But we need to remind ourselves to check straps, ropes, life lines, stands, ladders, ext.

Hunting isn't worth it if we don't come home brothers.

I started ratchet strapping all of my sticks this year, usually only did it on the top section in previous years. Also purchased lifelines.

I double strap ALL of my ladder stands... 2 on the mid point support, 2 on the main stand....
Never know when one of them critters gets a hankering or one just fails...

Good Advise and reminder Giles. Also if anyone has not shot their bow since last season and your getting it out for the first time I strongly suggest safety glasses just in case a sting or cable snaps. Just saying................

Two years ago I was helping a farmer during harvest and I was in extra early to get a job done. Something is done the last two weeks straight! But I had pics of a buck I wanted to kill the day before at mid day. So I was rushing around like a mad man to hurry up... Fractured my leg that morning. Never did get that buck and the hurry wasn't worth it at all!

The rest of my hunting season became "buddy system" hunts because I couldn't climb a tree or drag a deer.

Good thinking. I also ratchet strap my steps on my hang on, don't trust it. Going out Sunday to finish a few last minute things. I now have two life lines. Thanks Giles for starting this thread.
