Well, we got her set up with her very first bow yesterday thanks to Broken Rack Archery located near Batavia. A big thanks to Donnie, who really helped Karissa get set up with her new Mission Craze 2. She was measured right at 26" draw length and he has her starting at 37 lbs draw weight. The MC2 also has 80% let off which will help her hold back longer and more steadier.

This afternoon we went out to get her some practice on her form, set up and muscle memory at distances of 3 and 5 yards using her 30 and 20 yards respectively.

Here are a few pics behind our house this afternoon. She shot about a dozen arrows before starting to feel fatigue then we took a break till later tonight.

Here she is getting her grip right.

Going through her set up progression

Here she is at 3 yards rough sighting her 30 yard pin

We have our number one double set already up and 5 cameras out. Might swap a few cards here pretty soon and see what's shaking. We have a few more sets to get up before season and all of our clothes to wash and smoke up in the meantime.

Hope you all have a great successful season and are safe this season as well!

I've been impressed with broken rack every time I've been in that place. I hunt with a few guys that do shoots up their, that's the only reason I even knew about the place.

Also, she will still hunt with a xbow this season till we are both very confident in her accuracy and she's pulling and holding around 43-45 pounds or more.

She also exhausted her 3 years of apprenticeship hunting and took the HSC back in late May and passed with a 97% so now that monkey is off her back as well. We have lots of work to do before season so it can take its time getting here even though we both can't wait to get after em this season! Lol

I think it's great your daughter shares the same interest in hunting you do! Good for you buying her a bow and getting her out there!

That's awesome, Ric! I'm sure the bug has bitten deep and you two will make a lifetime of memories shooting bows and chasing deer. Nothing better!

Thanks everyone!!!

I have her shooting a few arrows throughout the day while I'm at work. I still have her shooting from 3-5 yards away working on the main principles.

Grip
Setup/anchors
Level
Backtension then relax
Move trigger finger around to front of trigger
Settle in on spot, focus and slightly apply pressure..........thoing:smiley_bril:

I have her doing this off and on till she gets the slightest bit fatigued then she takes a long break before doing it again. I had her go back to 20 yards last night for her very first time. The pin is very close to being dialed in but I told her we're not concerned about where she's hitting at the present moment as we're only concentrating on her mental aspect and her consistent form.

I did take a pic of her very first grouping at 20 yards but she admitted that she was just happy to hit the block target! rotflmao

Planning on getting the 200 shots in before Friday's readjustment. Very pleased with her desire to practice and motivation up to this point...:pickle:

This is awesome. Heck, that is a very nice group at 20 yards for her beginning. I'll bet you two have some great memories in your future. Good luck in the upcoming season.

I'm sure you realize how blessed you are. But, I must say you are one very fortunate individual. I'd give anything to have had my daughter or one of my grandchildren have the desire for the outdoors that I have. I must admit, I envy you.

Thanks again everyone!

Chad, a small 5 pt deadhead I found this past shed season. The GW gave me a salvage permit for it and I just haven't done anything with it yet. Lol

Pretty awesome....look forward to seeing how things go for you all . My wife took up bowhuntin for a handful of yrs and she started out not being able to draw the bow set at 25#. I helped here draw it each night to build her muscles and it didn't take long and she was pulling it herself . By bow season she was pulling 42# . She shot a buck and a doe that yr . The doe she shot clean thru and the buck she buried it up to the nock ....I think I was more excited watching her shoot that buck than anything I'd shot .

Keep up the good work
