I love starting this thread every year. It offers a chance to recollect seasons past and look forward to future hunting.

1) Have a safe season.
2) Be thankful for what God has given us.
3) Continue to nourish the fire in my son's belly. He killed his first deer last year. I'd like to see his passion continue to grow.
4) Fill my freezer
5) I think I am about done setting buck goals. Mature deer would be great. Outside of this, whatever floats my boat- mature or not.
6) Make quick, clean, ethical shots on the deer I kill.

I passed on a mature buck on my first hunt last year and never got a chance at another one... I will not repeat this mistake as I was stuck on antlers. I learned through that, that I don't enjoy hunting antlers. Back to the basics for me this year.

One of my best hunting buddies is retiring on Sept. 5. My number one goal is to get to spend more time in the woods with him. We both have the same frame of mind about deer hunting. We only want good bucks and let the little ones walk.

My second goal is for my step son to kill a buck at my property.

For myself I'd like to take a respectable buck by Nov. 10 so I can call some raccoons before it gets to cold.

My goal is to not shoot the ground blind (twice) this year... And to bag one earlier in the season so I have more time to hunt squirrel and maybe focus on a little trapping.

1. bag my first buck
2. shoot bow/ drink beer with my Bil in law.... and the rest of the TOO at the stroud this fall.
3. bring the deer home so moonshine can jump in back of the truck and look at it. That's his favorite. He knows when I back my truck in the back of my house that I have a dead deer in back of my truck. Soon as I come in the house to let him out, he sniffed all over my legs, he knew he was right, lol. I let the door open and bam he goes straight to my truck sniffing at the deer, lmao. love that dude.
4. say my prayers thanking the lord for hunting, and also say my prayer before I get to the stand to pray for all the hunter and I to be safe getting up and down on the stand, and deer or not as long as we are alive to come home and hunt another day.

I added one for you
7) Kill Buck with my boots on:smiley_coolpeace:

1) As for myself, I want to get my son out in the groundblind this year, mainly to observe how he does. Im not sure I will even take a weapon. Nothing would guarantee a close encounter with a mature buck more than not being able to kill him, haha.

2) Safety

3) Have fun again. Last year was most fun ever for me

4) Keep learning
