Rock and a hard place

Not real sure what to do, the place I work for is changing schedules around big time and they told me I was working from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm. I told them that wouldn't work for me…they didn't seem to care much. I like working for this place, but thats my entire day. Thats the most miserable shift I've ever even heard of!

I talked to my wife about it and her exact words "we'll find you another job". Benefits are good, pay is alright, they supply everything you need, most of the guys are good guys to work with…

My new schedule starts Monday, job search starts today I guess.

Damn Dave, that sucks. There is never a shortage of jobs in the grain industry, if I remember correctly thats what you did too. Always sucks starting over. But no job or money is worth being miserable while you're there. Good luck man

Not sure on the spelling, but I hear Domtar Paper advertising for help all the time. They are in WCH. Amazon is hiring at the old Airborne facility. Johnson Controls in Greenfield... you won't like their shifts. Greenfield Research is hiring too. Corvac, new company that is setting up shop in Greenfield is also hiring. They are looking to hire about 200, I don't have a clue where they will find 200 that can pass a drug test. I think EVERY factory in the area is hiring for one position or another. I'd say it's a good time to be looking around if you can pass the drug test...

Schedule would be this until harvest season. Then it'd be the same shift I'm working now with tons of OT.

Drug test aren't a problem. Thanks for that info Brock! I think I'd like to go back to running heavy equipment or stay doing maintenance.

thats a bummer.

Dave,

I used to sell products to Johnson Controls. I know they have some crazy schedules but I believe they pay great and treat their employees right. If you could get in there it might be a good gig. I know a lot of the people I worked with down in TX/OK had been there for a long time.

... and Johnson Controls has an incentive of some kind going. They have been feeding entire shifts top-quality pizza for the last couple of months. First shift has been kicking butt, apparently. They feed them every Friday...and I am more happy to see this incentive program than anyone! :)

Hate to hear it Dave! I'm being moved to 9-5:30 from 8:30 -5 and both suck ass IMO, especially dealing with the rush hour traffic! Oh well, better than nothing I guess!

Good luck with your search! Brock has some good leads!

Damn, for the first time since I started working here, I don't even feel like going to work.

That's a shitty feeling right there. I worked at BAE Systems, we up armored all the Humvees and MRAP's etc. I absolutely loved that job. Once we saw the writing on the wall, I had the same feeling. Good luck brother.

Things must be picking up in manufacturing.

My BIL's company has 2 shifts, 7 to 7 and 7 to 7.

They're looking at 6 on and 2 off scheduling. That's a 72 hour week. Nice checks coming but no life.
