Wingmaster not express correct?

With fixed choke barrel $350ish plus slug barrel. Smoothbore slug barrel $75-100, rifled $150, cantilevered pushing $200

Assuming very good condition.

One of the neighbors at my dad's river camp (Chicken John as he's known) had this out the other night while talking with my dad. He called me about, then text'd me the pics. I told him $400 was fair for both of them without doing more research. Dad now owns an 870 Wingmaster with both barrels. My wife said I was awful when I answered the question of what I was doing by saying: "Helping dad negotiate on inheritance items!" LOL. My old man is awesome, but he didn't need this gun. But he knows it will make a good weapon for the family. Someone will get good use out of it!

My math was on par with Sam. I felt it might be worth $425-50, but at $400, they're we both fairly safe. That's $350 for the gun with one barrel, and valuing the other barrel at $75-100 depending on specs.

The V at the end of the serial number indicates a 2 3/4". M at the end indicates a 3" gun.

at most gun shows, they are being priced at $400 to $450 with only one barrel. But they are not selling at those prices. judging by the forearm, its pretty old. the lack of checkering on the stock also tends to show its age or the possibility somebody replaced the stock. You should be able to sell the slug barrel at $100. I think you could find a buyer for the gun with the vr barrel at $300 or more.

Thank you for the insight. Good info.

I would have a hard time paying $400 for that combo. I know it's a wing aster, but you can buy a new combo for the same.
I'm kind of thinking the same. But, pictures don't always do a gun justice of course. I'm sure it looks much nicer in person. And the 870's of today aren't quite as good as the 870's of old IMO.

The biggest thing I noticed right away is the stock doesn't look like the original. However I'm not sure I've ever seen a Wingmaster that was that old.

I'm pretty sure it's the original stock. I've seen a few really old ones that looked just like this one. Does this one have the wood butt pad?

Have you picked up a new one lately?

Nope, just a 1187.

I keep reading here that Remington quality has dropped, but for me there is a line between paying for something old and worn out (not saying this gun is) vs. having newer designs & technology. The question/gamble is just how bad or how high is the risk of the new version not performing as well as this old one? Donno, just saying I could not spend $400 on pump shotgun that is 47yrs old without doing a comparison. If the gun was 99%, no question. I just don't' see that in this picture and I am not a gun expert nor have I ever been to a gun show.

Other thing to consider here is dad and I both have a thing for old shotguns. Don't buy a lot, but look a lot. This has a "cool" factor for us that's worth something.
