The .410 Does The Job Again

Took this gobbler at 9:20 this morning. Didn't weigh him or measure the beard or spurs. He is already cut up for making turkey noodle soup.

Very Nice... Congratulations.... No fancy camo on the gun either.. Just goes to show you don't have to buy into all the fancy gimmicks being sold today...

How far was your shot?

Recently shot my son's "future .410" and it only patterned to 20 yards.

I shot this turkey within feet of where I took last years bird on opening day. Taken from my one man chair blind that I sat up last Wednesday, no calling, no decoys. Just setting up in a spot that turkeys always seem to travel at my dads place.

The shot was about 20 yards maybe a little less. The trick to using the .410 is shot size, as you only have 3/4 ounces of shot in a 3" shell. Many .410 shooters choose #9 shot for turkey. I chose to use #7 1/2 in my gun. The scope is a big help in actually aiming at the head, actually the neck just below the head is my point of aim.
