Interesting results. Something to think about when looking at your next ride.

Saw this on the news this morning. Watched the actual crashes in slow motion. No way in hell I would drive a Dodge after seeing the off center frontal impact test. It looked like the only thing that stopped the cab collapse was the crash dummy. For sure your legs would be gone at a minimum. For you dodge drivers, if you hit something you best try like hell to hit it square.

This is what happens when you push for one thing and forget about another. MPG struggle has turned the entire market into a beer can design. The part that pisses me off about it all is that my 10 year old truck weighing 8,500 lbs is getting better MPG than most of today's trucks.

Well at least you know that dodge is more concerned about its customers saving money on gas so they can pay the medical bills[emoji23]

If you think any of these companies gives a fuck about you, I challenge you to prove it to me. I'll sell everything I have and buy new if you can do this.

I'm not upset at all. I would sell everything and start supporting a company that truly cared about the little guy.

I'm not a brand following person. I think they all make one thing better than the next guy.

Easy ladies, I didn't post this to start a pissing match. Just some food for thought when looking at new trucks.

A few things to keep in mind:
1 - Every model year is different than the rest.
2 - There are a LOT of variables in these tests.
3 - This is just a baseline measurement.
4 - We have come a LONG LONG LONG ways since Col Stapp brought attention to crash safety.

Don't believe me, here is the 50th anniversary video to show just how far we have come:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPF4fBGNK0U

There are simply too many variables to "predict" how someone will fare in a crash. I found the results interesting mainly because of the new material and design that Ford has launched.

While I agree that the OEMs may not have your safety as their number 1 priority, it is very important because of the direct correlation to sales. When the system went to a 5-star rating, 1 star = 200,000units/cars which = $1B. That is something they care about therefore it's related.

Take note, the industry is changing very quickly from being reactive to proactive. Crash avoidance is the future and you are seeing it on new models where the cars are braking for you. Scary, but cool stuff. Won't be long and they will be driving themselves, more than just backing up the trailer or parallel parking for you.

Beer cans were made from steel at one time. to make them easier to crush for recycling, they switched to aluminum. guess who has aluminum beds?
When the radiator mounts rusted away on a 5 year old F150, that was the last Fix Or Repair Daily I would ever buy.

If you are talking about Ford having aluminum beds.... good chance the one in the test has a full aluminum body, not just the bed. Big difference between military grade aluminum and a what is used to make cans....

Rust issues have plagued the majority of automakers and the OEM's that make their parts for years. Agreed though, on a 5 year old truck that would piss a guy off.

a dodge neon pulled out in front of me in my 2000 Ram 1500, I was going 40mph, his left headlight met the right side of my bumper...and from what insurance company said, bent the frame...definitely could see the bed lifted...so a neon totaled my Ram? You have got to be kidding me!!!

Never bought a dodge after that. and never will.
