How's that make you feel? I agree that minimum wage is long over due for a raise, but doubling it! Minimum wage is also for minimum skills and not meant for folks to live off of it or make it a living. I think this big push is a kick in the teeth to most and will bite us in the long run.

Minimum wage goes up often, at least on a state level. Many of the folks I've hired at the pizza shop do not warrant the "minimum". I've tried to not keep those folks around long. It really makes no difference to me what the minimum wage is. Honestly, it gets too high, we will not have employees. It would not bother me at all to downsize, do pick up only, and be open only a couple days a week. I could use more time at the lake.

I see that happening a lot Brock. In turn hurting everyone.

Now we have people like my wife who are spending thousands to go to school for the medical field. In turn she can expect to make $15-18 an hour. Now we have high school kids making that with no skills... WTF

The American way of just printing more money SUCKS!

Is this another step towards communism?

On another note. It's obvious these idiots don't understand how the economy works. They should have figured it out when they went from 40 hour weeks with OT allowed to 28.5 max to avoid Obamacare mandates.

minimum wage jobs are not meant for people supporting families and paying mortgages. minimum wage jobs are entry level, for young people with no skills or experience. want a better paying job? work harder, learn a skill, or get an education rather than insist that you cannot live on your minimum wages. raising the minimum wage does exactly nothing to elevate a dumb, lazy fuckers' standard of living. only serves to depress mine and yours. it's a giant steaming pile of progressive liberal horse shit.

Obama and his minions will do anything to ruin this country.
Anybody get screwed royal on their income tax because of the "subsidy" on their obamacare payments?

1)In my opinion $15 per hour is way too much for minimum wage... there is a huge difference between things that are necessary for life and things that make life more convenient... i know this for a fact when i was 19 i was blessed with the precious gift of my son and that same year i bought my house... i was making $11.50 per hour so it came to a point to where i did without a lot of conveniences of life for a few years. So for the average single teen/early twentys person without a child and house payments 7.25 is more than enough to survive off of you may just have to live without high end clothes and such but it is doable
2) if everyone is making 15 oer hour to flip god damn burgers at Mcdonalds then the people who put forth a little more effort in their careers/ studies deserve to be paid more which in turn would just pretty much devalue a dollar even more...

Want to fix some of the problems? Reduce entitlements. IF people are forced to work, the work force has more competition. More competition for minimum wage jobs creates better selection of employees. This also creates more competition for $8-10-12-15/hr jobs. With more employees to choose from, employers can be more selective thus increasing productivity and quality. What does raising minimum wage provide? Worse conditions. Those making $8-20/hr are now much closer to minimum wage. This kills an incentive they have to work harder because they move backwards. Not only do they move backwards but it increases the dollar menu to the $5 menu. It bumps the cost of ice cream cones, gallons of gas, and all products sold by minimum wage (or slightly above minimum wage) employees. The answer is not to increase the minimum wage. The answer is to decrease entitlements thus improving the minimum up to $15-20/hr workforce.

What kills me is how much it hurts everyone else. Many of our day to day expenses will go up quite a bit therefore reducing the discretionary spending of the lower income to middle income people. It WILL hurt the overall economy.

Want another solution? Introduce money management in the schools. I have seen $8-10/hr workers who manage money better than those earning six figures. They manage to pay their bills and survive. Nathan.Luthman said so himself and I commend him for stepping up to the plate and being a responsible/hard working parent. Take a person with a six figure income and lots of discretionary income and what do they do? Spend 95-110% of it. Just because they are banking it doesn't mean they are any better off than the person making $25k/yr. They just have more stuff and likely higher payments on toys/trivial items they truly don't need.

I would argue that there should be no minimum wage at all. The employer should be able to decide what he.she wants to pay you. If you don't like it then find a different job. My question to all these liberals is if $15/he is good than why not make it $30, $40, $50/hour. I'm sure the dollar wouldn't collapse...
