GAYLORD, Kan. – A small herd of deer were electrocuted when they came into contact with a power line in Smith County.
The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism said on its Facebook page the deer kill took place near Gaylord in north central Kansas.
Six deer can be seen lying in a wheat field along with the power line that fell killing them.
KDWPT said game wardens who investigated the kill reported the deer apparently were feeding when the power line fell into the field. The agency said the active line was released as soon as possible from the pole but the deer had already been killed.
