We should eliminate the entire rural Ohio deer population because people are hitting more in the city! Kill Kill Kill

Spot on. I've never seen a road kill deer out by my place in the country. Seen a lot when I drive into Columbus or Cleveland

What I find most ironic is Coshocton County is arguably is/was the best deer county in Ohio and has the fewest amount of accidents. I think this increase has to do with people being fuckin idiots and not understanding how to drive in the city and suburbs because they are too consumed by star bucks, cell phones and the gap and don't learn how to drive or any other basic skills of self reliance.

I also think that the technology helps people report it. Along with the cost to fix a fender, more people are reporting it these days.

You no longer need a police report to claim hitting a deer to your insurance company either...so how many dumb kids are being dumb kids and claiming a deer was involved? My wife hit a trash can a little over a week ago and when we called the insurance company to ask questions, the guy asked us repeatedly "are you sure you didn't hit a deer?" So this leaves me to believe that they push this type of thing.

Some idiot killed a nanny with 2 fresh twins by my house one day. I know he was flying because it's a 35mph marked curve and he slid a substantially long distance before hitting hard enough to kill the deer and speeding away. I know people hit deer in true accident situations but some places I see deer killed really upset me from a safety standpoint as well as the loss of a good animal.

Way less road kills this year because there are way less deer. just pay attention when driving the turnpike, I76, Route 11

I drove route 11 for 30+ years between leatonia and Vienna, saw plenty of dead deer as well as live in the fields along the way.... Retired in May of 15 so can't say for the remainder of last year but deer kills were down as far as road kill and deer out in the fields were less.... But route 62 from Canfield and Salem was deer kill central..... There were 6 dead deer in a mile long stretch around route 165.....

NWOhio!
2 mile stretch of route 64 from whitehouse to swanton, Oak openings metropark owns property all along that stretch...last year OR the last 2 years, that 2 mile stretch (reportedly) had 19 DVA's...I believe that was the highest in the county and possibly the state (not 100% on that though)

This, I believe, was the only statistic considered when the metropark made the decision to sharpshoot 200 deer in that park this year...that's what they meant when they said, The cull is just the responsible thing to do.

Just sad to me that people consider the deer a major reason why their insurance is so expensive...maybe they should take a look in the mirror.

Maybe we should increase the bag limits? (For you punny ones).

Those trash cans are a hazard. Maybe we could even put a bounty on them?
