I thought there was an injured hawk in my side grass. There was another in a tree nearby. I started walking towards it and it flew off into the street with the other coming in right by it. It turns out one had a bird kill. I'm not sure what was going on, but it was cool as hell.

Sounds cool man. Owls we're going off at my house tonight. Not sure what kind, sounded DEEP. I have a good amount of eastern screech owls around, but don't hardly ever hear the big owls.

I believe owls are starting to breed now and are carrying on. I hear a lot of owls here, about 3-4 different ones all the time.

we've had a Coopers hawk hunting one of our bird feeders for a couple of years now. I've seen it get a couple of chipping sparrows and a dove. clever birds.

your link expired or something. could not view it.

That reminds me that i need to get some bird feed. I like how when theres a feeding frenzy going on at the feeder and all of a sudden all the sparrows will light out but the doves will just sit there and look around like whats going on then its poooofffff and feathers flying when the coopers hawk comes in full blast for the kill.

I have Ohio Edison power lines behind my house. I have been putting out scraps from butchering deer, bones from Christmas turkey, other scraps for more than 10 years. The same female cooper hawk has been feeding there for years with her offspring. They will sit on the same tree branches as close as two feet apart waiting for me to put some food out. They never seem to bother the small birds at the feeders but they do a great job eliminating the rabbit population.
