well I bought a home on 7 acres. I need to put up some white pines to create some blockage from road, and one neighbors house. My house sits off road a bit, but the neighbor down the way can see me everytime I walk to my stand, just kind of bugs me.

Anyways, anyone have suggestions on where I can look for white pines? Any suggested nurseries in the state? I want to try to buy 20+.

thank you!

Really depends on how big you want them Al. White pines are "fast" growers, but that is a generic term. A 2' tall pine won't do you much good the first few years. Depends on how quickly you want a block. If you get into nursery sized pines, price will vary based on height. We have used Studebaker in recent years. Not sure if they have any nurseries close to you. Maybe Alex can help out?

If you want some immediate cover, you might try running a tiller along the property line and planting some Egyptian wheat. Plant it early and plant it annually until your pines fill in.

Ya even a 2ft tree would help right now. I actually have trees on most sides just looking for a bit better barrier. I' figure this spring I can drop some coin on it.

From what I have seen a 4foot tree is around 40-50. Which means if I budget 1200 I can get about 20 which would be a great start.

I'll drive for a better price. Hell I drive a lot as it is already.

Ohio had some program going for pines, I'm not sure what kind of if the program is still going. So I guess I'm telling you nothing...maybe this will spark a memory for someone that has an idea of what they are talking about. Lol

Your county soil and water division probably has a tree sale each spring, mine does. White Pine typically run about $ 1.60 each, 12" tall though.

Correct. This is what I have done. 3-4 yrs later. . . .still not a lot of privacy coverage.

Long term the white pines would be a great wall if you stagger them into at least 2 rows. Short term you may want to do what Phil said and create a wall with the Egyptian wheat, sorghum or even a switch grass wall. The switch grass would be a somewhat permanent addition depending on the type. We planted some in our sanctuary that is about 6' tall and another variety that is shorter.
