Anybody have any experience with troy uppers? I am probably going to build another AR and troy uppers seem to be reasonably priced.

No experience with Troy upper per say. I will say this that a upper is only as good as the barrel is. Only purpose the upper services is to hold the barrel from falling off.
Same goes for the lower is to hold the trigger assembly. Put a good trigger in any lower and have a good tight fit between the lower and upper you have a accurate rifle.
Who's barrel does Troy use?

I'm not sure but I think they might make their own. I'm not as concerned with extreme accuracy on this one as I am setting it up as a cqb gun.

I rather doubt they make their own barrels as there aren't that many baarrel makers and I never heard of a Troy barrel. If I had to guess I would say it's a Wilson.
Where did you see a reasonable priced Troy upper? Ones I seen were 1200 plus.

Troy doesn't make anything reasonably priced... I had a few quad rails and some other things made by them back in the day, I never had any problems with any of the parts. I also never had an upper though. I'm thinking if it's priced decent, that it is a knock off. Troy Industries isn't your average "entry level" type of gear.

Primary arms had them on sale for $450 which included bcg and charging handle. They also have one with the alpha rail for 600. I know primary arms is a reputable company.

Some Troy stuff is actually made by another manufacture and rebranded.

Good thing about AR's only three things matter for accuracy. Barrel, trigger and shooter. The rest is blind or convenience.

PSA is running killer deals right now. The had Wilson match barreled uppers for under $500

Gotcha, PSA is another option. I really want to build one with desert tan colors and that one from Troy caught my eye. I've also heard d their rails are good.
