How is a deer aged without physically testing and or observing up close? I understand it's an approximate number, but how do you figure out the age of a deer through pics or from a stand ect? I assume it's probably from years of hunting experience and observing certain deer over their life spans but just wanted to know if there is physical traits you can observe to tell the age. Thanks for the help.

If you have Facebook. Follow growing deer TV. Dr. Grant woods points out many different key items to focus on.

Also please realize that when aging if someone says 4 or 4.5 it's the same thing. Same as 3 or 3.5. I see all the time guys say no deers not 4.5 he's 4.......it's always half years due to deer being born in spring. Just an FYI.
