Any years or models that are known problems? I have been outta the quad scene for a good bit and need info.

Seems to me that the best pricing is in the Suzuki/Yamaha and Honda/CanAm are the highest in pricing.

Don't want this to turn into a brand war. Also, please refrain from "my Uncles, cycle mechanic says all Kawasaki sucks".

Thanks

Beener, I think each brand has a solid 4x4 quad. Just pick your poison. I love my CanAm Outlander.

I loved my Suzuki King Quad.

I also loved my old Yamaha Big Bear.

I had a bad experience with the Kawasaki Brute Force, but they're good bikes too. I bought that one used and who knows what the other owner did to it.

I know I'm not much help, but my point is you can't go wrong with any of them if you treat it right.

And keep Klay off of it.

Guy I know has a 2008 King Quad 400 in camo with 1600 miles. Auto and winch. He offered it to me for $2500.

Mine was a 400. It got me everywhere I needed to go. The infamous Creek Trail as well. Only thing I noticed is the obvious. I went from the to the brute force 750 and the power difference was unreal.
With that said, I never had an issue with my king quad and only sold it because I actually made money selling it and buying the older brute force.

Check out the new outlander "L" if u end up looking at new.

If going used, just find best deal on the best condition unit. Alot depends on previous owner and how well it was rolled, i mean cared for:smiley_crocodile:

For what it's worth, with the part Klay busted on my Outlander I'm finding out via forums that it's a weak spot on the outlander. Not a whole lot of steel there on that part.

That used one sounds like a good deal if it was treated right.

Just be sure to get independent rear suspension. Makes a big difference in the ride.

I would like IRS but it would not be a deal breaker for me as trail riding will be minimal. A solid axle is better for plowing anyway.

I think I would like a manual transmission but those are rare now.

It needs to be able to pull a decoy trailer. That's all you need to think about.

Lol Sean!

Lots of good quads out there! I'd just check a used one over real good before buying an expensive headache!

Definitely find one with power steering,FI and independent suspension. Once you have those features your spoiled! Good luck buddy!

I just sold my Polaris Sportsman XP 550 with all the bells and whistles. Once I get back on my feet, I will be buying another one. LOVED that quad and I will have another one some day...

Ryan beat me to the punch. I was going to recommend PMing Ron and getting Tammy's number. Bet you might find a deal there right now. Sorry Ric. TOO soon?

400-450cc will do what you want. We have had a 99 Honda Foreman 400, 2006 Honda Rancher 400, and currently still have a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak 450. When I downsized to one quad, I sold the Rancher and kept the Kodiak. The independent front and rear suspension along with ability to lock in differentials made it a better fit for us than the Rancher. All three I have had plowed snow and did the job just fine. Bigger quads have a bit more weight and umph when pushing (which helps), but they also have a bigger stance and turning radius.

I am not up on King Quads to know if that is a solid machine or not. Make certain it is 4x4 for this price. You would find a Rancher in this price range but ONLY if it was 2wd or the deal of the century (or stolen lol).
