Mineral Wizzing

Did my minerals a couple weeks ago. I was at Basspro getting a few things for the Erie trip and had a few bucks on a gift card, so I went ahead and grabbed a bag of Deer Cocaine. This is a spot that I can't put a salt block like some of my other places. I haven't used this brand before but it's basically salt, with some apple scent.

The first hole has been in place for close to fifteen years. The deer destroy the ground and have a great sized hole there. I did my usual routine.....I used a metal spade and chopped the dirt up a bit, mixed the powder with water and dumped it, then mixed the dirt up some.

The second was a new site about 600 yards away. Raked the grass away and repeated the process.

I checked them both this afternoon and they both have tracks around them, but they are covered in deer wiz! What the fug is that about?? I don't normally hang cams on them, but I am going to put one over the first and see what's going in. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I need a few good rains to dilute the concentration of sale, but the doesn't explain the pee situation.

Well it looks like a scrape so it could just be instinct...
Cocaine is a helluva drug...
Or I've had plenty of pics of coyotes doing that

Lol but definitely hang a cam, it's a great way to keep yourself entertained

How do you know its piss? This time of year I think everything smells like piss. You added a mineral to the ground, dug a little hole, what else do you think it should smell like after a week? Without much rain to wash the mineral into the ground…I think you are smelling the minerals.

Nah Giles, it's urine. I was going to try to get a camera on one this afternoon but I didn't get home until almost 6 and I don't want to disturb the corn field it's in. They've been in there pretty regular in the evenings, which is slightly surprising being that it's mostly dirt right now. Corn is only about 3" high.

Not real sure man. Never heard of anything like that. Do you have a water source in the same area? I noticed that they almost always pee after they drink.
