Hunting on Public Land

Hey Everyone,

Me and a buddy are going out this weekend and are thinking about using public land near columbus (everyone we know with private isn't up for hunting this saturday). Any advice on where to go or the best time to use public land? We each have a bow and a shotgun if that helps.

I'm relatively new to hunting so any advice at all will be extremely helpful.

Thanks for you help,

Adam

I'm not real help, but I'll offer some words on safety. Do not move around while calling on public ground unless you plan to wear orange. That's a good way to get shot.

Deffinatly go shotgun, get out as early as you can and do a couple locating calls to try and get a response. Can't help on a spot to set up I'm way north of you but just be safe, put orange on a tree above where you are set up at to mark you are there and don't move when calling.

The turkeys will bust you if you have any orange. Pick a big tree to setup on and like they said don't walk and call. And don't try to stalk turkeys on public ground.
