Looking for a Lab pup, preferably chocolate

My mom's friend has two litters ready for mid-april and I am looking at getting one of their pups. But I'm not 100% sure if they have a chocolate female available, someone who has precedent over me is still undecided and there's only one chocolate female left. Mid-april works great with all my deadlines for work that I can take off vacation time and my dad can too so the first 4 weeks I have the pup there will be someone home with it 24/7.

Does anyone know of any breeders that'll have a litter ready by say mid-april? I'm looking specifically for a chocolate female and trying to stay under $700.

Thanks!
T.J.

Sorry wasn't sure if this should be in the classifieds or not.

Little of both. Not a serious gun dog cuz I'm typically wrapped up in deer season and don't have time for waterfowl. But I'd wanna train her enough for her to be able to go out for ducks.

I've had a few labs of different colors, males and females. I've also owned a couple American and a couple English labs...I'll never own another American lab again! The temperament of the English is so much better for my lifestyle. It might be something worth looking into. This is my 8.5 year old English, took this earlier today.

Notice the body structure and block head, this comes with the English decent.

In that case I would just keep my eyes on the local classifieds. Take a careful look at the parents... Demeanor, attitudes, physical characteristics, etc... And make sure they've got all their health clearances. If all that checks out you should be fine. It's pretty tough to pick a "bad" Labrador. There really are no bad dogs, just bad trainers.

I kinda was hoping to get a referral of someone that knew the breeder but I never thought about looking into the classifieds for a pup. I'll have to check that out today.

And Eric you said Lucy's pups won't be ready until like November... That's too much patience! Lol and during hunting season.

No the will be ready probably mid to late August. Believe me you want a known dog over just having a dog. She was potty trained in less than 2 weeks.

plus you need to meet storm.. Once you see hose two together you won't regret it. Dogs are like women,,, the right woman is way more important than the wedding date...

hahaha!

Be ready in august huh? I do love lucy (no pun intended), she reminds me of my chocolate at home with her demeanor.

Here's Maddie and the other half of the pack ImageUploadedByTapatalk1425041950.594497.jpg

Shes sleeping like that and must have been chasing a rabbit or squirrel because her legs were twitching like she was chasing something lol. Awesome dogs for sure and she is my first dog so it was a learning experence for sure. House training her was the the best part. She is going to be six this year and has only pee'd three times in the house and never pooped once.

Labs are by far the best dogs ever. Giles mentioned the English breeds and that was what our first black was. Man he was a big old boy and quite the watch dog. Our yellow that we have now is the best dog I've ever had. Very little time potty training and very little chewing on things other than antlers over the years.

My chocolate is an English as well as my black before him, great dogs. Labs are all I have ever had and won't have anything else. I would like to find a silver lab at a good price.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1425063557.258754.jpg

Mine comes from a very strong background in AK, or else I'd give you a name. The only dislike that I have is that I can't take him fishing. No way to keep him out of the water! He will stay out of the water if I tell him too, but then he starts these awful sounds and won't stop until he brings back a lure. I've always wanted a fishing buddy dog…this is NOT the breed for that! lol

If you don't care to every show the dog or anything like that, you can usually find one with a very strong history for a good price. You have to call them and ask because they won't advertise that they have any dogs with any blemishes, like the white spot on the chest or anything else. Nothing wrong with the dog itself, just not preferred so you can usually get them for a deal. I think we paid $300 for this one and the rest of his litter went for well over $1,000.
