Feedback on tires...

I'm going to be purchasing a new set of wheels for my truck as soon as the weather breaks as a late Christmas gift. Been saving up and didn't wanna run them in the salt.
Anyway...
Part of the package deal I found were tires so I could run my stock stuff all winter and new shoes all summer. Anyone have any info on Falken Wild Peak AT or Toyo Open Country AT?

They are reasonably priced and are offered as package deals. I know BF Goodrich AT's are top of the line but also top of the dollar. These two are mid priced and just curious if anyone has ever run them. Looking for feedback on treadwear, appearance, ride, highway noise, etc...

I use truck for everything. Family vacations, off road scouting, round town driving. So, with 90% of driving on pavement, don't really need anything like MT's. Just something with a decently aggressive look but made for the road too.

I thought you'd never ask…lol. I'm a tire FREAK! My close friends and family call me the tire Doc, and think I should sell them.

Run from the BFG AT's! They will dry rot before you ever wear them out, and they never stay round.

The list of AT tires that I would buy are…

Bridgestone Dueler REVO2, 40,000+ miles HARD miles on the current set on my truck
Toyo Open Country AT
Cooper Discovery AT3

All 3 tires hook up on any terrain. tirerack.com has some pretty good reviews on just about any tire make and model ever made. If you found some Toyo's at a good price, you better jump all over that. If you want the aggressive look of a MT, the Toyo has some really good road manners.

I actually have the Cooper AT3 on my truck now and they've been pretty good. Unfortunately, they're not offered as a package deal on the site I found. However, I'm going to try a local place that I know deals with Mastercraft/Cooper a lot and see if they can cut me the same deal or, better yet, beat the price.

Only thing about the Cooper is that they just don't have that look. You know? Love the look of MT's, but I know they aren't practical for my use, but would like something with a little sidewall tread. Hard to tell in the pics, but are the Open Country more along those lines?

Not really gonna find that it any of the better performing AT's. I've owned a few sets of the Toyo MT's and really couldn't tell much difference in road manners compared to an AT. How big you thinking about going?

I made the choice last year and went with the Cooper AT3 on my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. 90% of my work is done on pavement.
Nice and quiet over the past MTs.

I have the AT3's on my truck, I really like them. I had them on my blazer also but I just sold it. I've been looking at the cooper STT's as my next set, have you seen those?

Totally different tire compound than the AT3. STT is a real hard tire to keep balanced and they don't last that long on hot pavement. They wear better on some trucks than others.

The heavier your truck, the faster any tire will wear. IFS trucks will have a better wear, if you keep up on your alignment.

They track a little bit on grooved roads, but thats expected from a high traction tire. If I was looking for a tuff look and no compromise, the Toyo MT does that. You will loose a little bit of fuel milage with a tire like this though. It really is a nice, well rounded tire. It's the kind of tire that you can't show off by smoking. Because it grabs and goes! You can get a lot of miles out of them also.
