That looks like behind where your breech plug would screw in so there isn't going to be much pressure there. What does the inside of the barrel look like?

There is a little spot in the barrel at the other end of the breech plug. The rest of the barrel is clean. I have had this gun for a long time. It was my first muzzeloader. Its one of the toughest guns I have too keep clean too.

I hate to say it's fine and then it blows up, LOL. No expert here but that looks like it's just corroded the finish a little and I don't think you are going to have much pressure there. May want to take it to someone you trust and have them look at it in person just to be safe if you have your doubts, preferably a gunsmith.

I thought it was surface also but, there is pitting through all that. I don't really trust anyone around here. Honestly that's why I came here because o trust you guys more than the gunsmiths around here.

I can't get a good picture. I have decided too just get a new one. This one has paid for itself and its time for an update.
