Spots in the grass

I went for a walk this morning
I just felt like looking how things looked

As I walked along the edge of a bean field , I looked into the woods
It was a area grown up with grass and weeds

There trying to lay perfictly still was a fawn not 20 feet from me

Took a quick look from were I was to see if I could see another or Mama , but couldn't see either

I moved away , as to not get close to the little one

It is always great to see the next generation of deer as they grow

Those are exciting moments. I have done that a couple times as well. Wish I was there to see the fawn with you. Good stuff.

Never stumbled on to one myself but it would be pretty cool. Seen a doe with her little one along the interstate up in Michigan over this past weekend. Always like to see the little spots :smiley_clap:

Deer gestation is right about 198 days. If that fawn was born today breeding happened November 28th. If it's a week old November then 21st.

The one I saw a week ago was already a week old so mating happened about November 14th.

Had one down at my cabin a couple years ago. Laying in the reeds waiting for momma. They were letting the water on and I got nervous and went down to move it up the bank. That litle bugger jumped into the water and swam across the creek, and then I see momma pop up as it gets over there. Pretty cool to see. I didnt know they swam that well.
