OLD School Ground Hog Hunting

Last week I was looking for some field points in the basement
When I found or unearthed a box with some of my older deer hunting gear

A bunch was just outdated stuff
But I got to thinking the Game Getter arrows were still OK and the Razor Back 5 broad heads would work

So I got the idea to get out the old Bear Whitetail 2 box I have been using for shooting carp

I put one of the old sights back on it and put the Razor Back 5's on the arrows
In short order I sighted the old bow in and the last few days I have been shooting

This morning I headed out to try a little bow hunting
Not deer , but ground hogs

I have permission to hunt a farm that has a decent number of the darn things
But a lot of them are close to houses .....so touching off the 223 isn't liked that well by some of the people

This morning I still hunted a creek line that has a good number of ground hog holes

I guess it was more of a see a couple of holes and just lean on a tree for a while waiting for a ground hog

First shot was 35 yds and just over the ground hogs back
Second try was a 20 yd shot at a standing ground hog , I hit it center chest

All total 5 shots , 3 ground hogs and 1 lost arrow (I can see it in a patch of wild rose )

Oh I know it wasn't a record day
But it wasn't bad when the bow, arrows and broad heads are all at least 20 years old

Just a fun few hours

I will have to do it again

I figure I will just take a small stone and resharpen the broad heads
As I bet replacement blade inserts would be tough to find
