I guess I am hunting Turkeys all wrong

This afternoon I saw it done in style

I stoped over to a place I had permission to hunt ground hogs in the past , to ask for permission again

We were sitting on his back porch talking after he signed the permission slip

When his wife stuck her head out the door , saying "Those Birds are in the Garden again "
He reached into the house and grabbed gun case , a Browning BT99 Trap gun and 1 AA trap shell

We stepped off the porch and walked to the side of the house
There in the garden was a hen turkey and a nice Tom

They looked at him and went back to feeding on what ever they had planted in the garden
So he stuck the 1 trap load he had with him in the shotgun and shot the tom

Now the hen ran and flew away .....and fast
But at about 20 yards , the trap load worked on the tom

He maybe didn't know turkey hunting wasn't suposed to be that easy
But they were feeding in his garden

My guess a 2 year old Tom
Just over 1" spurs and a 8" beard

Oh well
I guess I am just not hunting in the right spots LOL

Sounds about like my luck too John. Go hunt them and they are not to be found. Drive home and they are in the field a mile or so down the road. Good luck to you the rest of the season.

BT 99s are phenomenal trap guns. That being said it pobably had a 30 or a 32 inch barrel in full. That turkey didn't stand a chance. Trap load or not. Haha that bird probably had 30 pellets in its head and neck. Haha

That's one way to bag a turkey. It wouldn't be my preferred method, but I guess if a turkey dinner is on the menu it beats going to Kroger.
