Dayton, not Akron...mistyped the title
Italian gunmaker to build first North American plant in Dayton
An Italian gunmaker will build its first North American manufacturing facility in Dayton, according to CNN.
Chiappa, known for making exotic firearms, will double its U.S. workforce to 30.
It currently has 14 workers combined between Dayton and Kentucky. It has local operations on West Third Street.
Company officials could not be reached for comment, but Chiappa Holdings LLC recently purchased a 30,000-square-foot facility at 1415 Stanley Ave. in Dayton for $455,000.
That would more than triple the space it currently has locally.
Chiappa specializes in replicas of vintage American guns, such as Western-style revolvers and Civil War rifles.
The plant is expected to be operational this summer.

Very glad to hear this. I can think of 2 other gun manufacturers in Ohio - Ithaca in Upper Sandusky and Hi-Point in Mansfield. I'm sure that there are more.
Don't know squat about Chiappa though...a quick look at their website and it looks like they make replica's and then a lot of other weird stuff...the Rhino pistol and a triple barrel shotgun.
