As many of you saw, I shot a nice doe this weekend. I want to ship the meat to Texas. Anyone have good suggestions on how to get this done? I know nothing about it.

I have it shipped from Ohio to FL every year. Have the processor freeze it if they will. Then either they or you can pack it with dry ice in about 10 boxes or so. Works like a charm.

Hint: little dry ice in the middle lots around the outsides.

I shipped 2 deer from Georga a few years back

We processed the deer and froze all the meat
Put the meat in a Yeti coolers

I put duct tape on the joint between the lid and coolers to insure it stayed closed
Put the cooler in a cardboard box
Taped the heck out of the boxs to protect them even more

I then shipped the coolers & meat to my parents house
Sent it on Monday , arived Wednesday
All the meat was still frozen

But dry ice would be a good thing to add to the cooler

But A great cooler like Yeti is a big plus

Congrats on your doe! Is there a story?

I just wrote up a quick story and picture under the thread "finally, mathews picking" it is the last post! Check it out.

1. Where can you get dry ice?
2. How did you ship? Fedex, Ups?
3. What is rough cost?

Thank you!

I shipped Fed Ex
The Meijer in Oregon , Oh has or had it

I think the local Gorden foods also has it

As for cost ......don't remember
Guess it all depends on how big a box you ship
Also how you ship
Next day Air is faster , but cost's more
Fedex Ground is slow but cheaper

I agree dry ice is perfect for shipping perishables. Its hard to find sometimes, some Meijers have Penguin Dryice Pellets but my local ones did away with it.

If your near Ashland Co. then Smith Dairy in Orrville sells dry ice by the pound cheap (instead of expensive pellets). Its a little past the Smuckers factory in a bright yellow building in town. Plus you can get all the discounted icecream you can eat there :pickle: Dairy companies any place else are a good place to look
