Thinking of building a Trailer

OK I have a small trailer that I use to haul the ATV or the Lawn Mower

But I have sort of been looking to get a larger trailer
One that can haul 2 or 3 ATV's , Fire wood or anything else

Well even the cheaper ones are to darn much
And they will not take a decent payload of wood

So I got to thinking :smiley_chinrub:
I have enough C channel , angle Iron for the frame and some Expanded metal mesh for the sides
Also I probely have enough 2x6 pressure treated wood for the bed

So I would just need the axles , tail gate mesh , light angle iron for the tail gate , lights and other parts

So I figure , as I am up to it
I could make a decent trailer for a lot less than I see even the well used ones going for

My question is ....are there any must haves or such
That you would add to a home built trailer ?
If you were starting the plans for welding one up ?

As this may take me a while , as I can only work on it when I don't have a darn headacke and have the cash for the parts

For what it's worth a surge brake system would be worth the added expense in my book....

Building your own may not save you a whole lot of money but you'll get a lot for the money you put out.....
