I name the for the fun of it. And like the other mentioned, it is nice to have a name to go with a face when you are talking to your buddies about them. I love to build a story with a particular buck and having a name is an important part of that IMO. Here are a few of the ghosts from my past/present...
Deuce. Certainly the most "famous" deer I've ever hunted. Named for his double split brows as a 3 year old.
Dozer. His wide rack reminded me of a dozer blade shoving through the woods.
The Clean 10.
Hook. Self explanatory.
Hook Jr. also self explanatory.
Berry. He lived on a old berry farm.
Crazy Rack. Again, self explanatory.
Boss Hawg. This deer was a hoss and had an attitude to match.
Moe. That year I had some great deer on cam and one was a deer called Curly. I named this deer Moe to stick with the theme.
And the current quest, Captain Jack. Named for his hook shaped beams.
