I name some of them burger, others steak, and yet others roast.

I guess i only name them with buddies who we share trail camera pictures with so we know which deer the other is referring to. Usually something like "big ten" or "right split brow buck". We dont get carried away with it. My one buddy and I had one named "mr browtine" and he was well worthy with 11" brows. Mid 150's 8pt buck when he was killed.

I name the for the fun of it. And like the other mentioned, it is nice to have a name to go with a face when you are talking to your buddies about them. I love to build a story with a particular buck and having a name is an important part of that IMO. Here are a few of the ghosts from my past/present...

Deuce. Certainly the most "famous" deer I've ever hunted. Named for his double split brows as a 3 year old.

Dozer. His wide rack reminded me of a dozer blade shoving through the woods.

The Clean 10.

Hook. Self explanatory.

Hook Jr. also self explanatory.

Berry. He lived on a old berry farm.

Crazy Rack. Again, self explanatory.

Boss Hawg. This deer was a hoss and had an attitude to match.

Moe. That year I had some great deer on cam and one was a deer called Curly. I named this deer Moe to stick with the theme.

And the current quest, Captain Jack. Named for his hook shaped beams.

This is the only one I have a name for this year. calling him Mr. T

This was Turk, I kept seeing him the same place I was constantly seeing turkeys. havent seen him since opening day of gun season 2 years ago.

I had 4 seperate encounters with this one a couple years ago and for one reason or another couldnt get a shot at him. i called him angel because he seemed to have one on his shoulder.
