Did you see the Cabela's AD? They have Russian Mosin's for $119! I ran up there today (Dundee, MI) and got the last friggin one! They were moving like hot cakes.
The gun is super clean and has just a little cosmoline on it. All of the numbers match.

Yep, I love mine and highly recommend as a fun project, cheap fun.

7.62x54.net is a good source of info, google 'em up

Congrats on the buy!

(AIM Surplus is still out of stock, has been for a while)

Been to that site already. LOL! I found out that the gun was made in 1943 by the company Izhevsk (Soviet Union). It was imported, refurbished and stamped by PW Arms.

The surplus ammo is corrosive. Just gotta clean immediately with Hoppe's #9.

This gun is remarkably clean. The importer must have done the bulk of the work. I broke the gun down and cleaned all of the metal parts and then treated them with a G96 synthetic. The stock is in pretty good shape. There's really no need to fugg with it.

I just purchased another Mosin. I have 2 boys you know. :smiley_coolpeace:
Should be coming in this week.
This one is a M44 Carbine; Russian built; anywhere from 1944-1949. Tula or Izhevsk; only time will tell.

I have a Mosin M44 made in 1944 Only advice ill give is like said before make sure you clean well after shooting dont let them sit very long because that ammo is nasty stuff i was lucky to get mine. I got it from a guy for 100 bucks and he went through over 400 mosins to find one that was clean with perfect rifleing. Read up on them alot and i dont know if anyone else has this issure but if you take to bolt apart it can be a bit tricky to get back together without pinching your hands. Also watch out with ATI stocks if your gonna restock it it might not chamber the rounds due to the stock being to tight. If you have any Q's just ask! Enjoy !!

Here it is. All clean, oiled and reassembled. This one is 1944 Izhevsk. There is one strike through on the magazine body/trigger guard. Bolt is most likely force matched too.

And then there were three.
1930 M91/30 from Tula, Hex receiver on a post war laminate stock. She's all clean now. All numbers except for the bayonet are matching.

Have you purchased a pallet of ammo yet. Big influx of x54 hit not long ago. 440rds is going for $80 again.
