I'm planning on buying a bottle of the 45 before it all sells out.

Also, I'd like to note that I'm a Maker's Ambassador and they didn't ask us!

Read this earlier. Half a bottle of makers 46 on the shelf and will grab one more for safekeeping. I mostly sip on bourbon so that will last me a bit. I think it's a dumb move from a company standpoint.

I got a bottle for Christmas that will last me for a while. If I remember right, my BIL told me about this over the holidays. There is expected to be a bourbon shortage over the next few years. Apparently many of the countries over in Asia, with a growing middle class, have developed a taste for bourbon. They're buying up all our booze boys!!! Stock up!!

Woodford Reserve is another good one BTW.

And they pay top dollar for it. little known fact. Kim Jong Ill, the former leader of north Korea was the largest purchaser of Hennessy VSOP in the world.

I'll stick to my American Honey. I can't drink anything neat any more after the worst college hangover of all time from Jack. I used to love straight whiskey/bourbon and can't do it any more. Now that is an epic hangover! Been almost 10 years!!!

That's a shame, I been a Makers Mark fan for a while now. However, I also drink a lot of vodka and soda water. Make no mistake, I'm judging his nancy boy body as he sits down the bar from me too... I work out, so I try not to waste it on empty calories.

The latest and greatest from MM.

You spoke. We listened.

Dear Friends,
Since we announced our decision last week to reduce the alcohol content (ABV) of Maker’s Mark in response to supply constraints, we have heard many concerns and questions from our ambassadors and brand fans. We’re humbled by your overwhelming response and passion for Maker’s Mark. While we thought we were doing what’s right, this is your brand – and you told us in large numbers to change our decision.
You spoke. We listened. And we’re sincerely sorry we let you down.
So effective immediately, we are reversing our decision to lower the ABV of Maker’s Mark, and resuming production at 45% alcohol by volume (90 proof). Just like we’ve made it since the very beginning.
The unanticipated dramatic growth rate of Maker’s Mark is a good problem to have, and we appreciate some of you telling us you’d even put up with occasional shortages. We promise we'll deal with them as best we can, as we work to expand capacity at the distillery.
Your trust, loyalty and passion are what’s most important. We realize we can’t lose sight of that. Thanks for your honesty and for reminding us what makes Maker’s Mark, and its fans, so special.
We’ll set about getting back to bottling the handcrafted bourbon that our father/grandfather, Bill Samuels, Sr. created. Same recipe. Same production process. Same product.
As always, we will continue to let you know first about developments at the distillery. In the meantime please keep telling us what’s on your mind and come down and visit us at the distillery. It means a lot to us.

Sincerely,

Rob Samuels Bill Samuels, Jr

I had to laugh when I read this. I went back in time to when we started playing poker each week. My best friend could only drink Jack Daniels or he would breakout in hives. So every week we drank a bottle of Jack between the 5-6 of us.
After about a year I told my son that there wasn't any reason for the cost. My son says " dad after the 1st week we just refilled the same Jack bottle up with Black Velvet and Chuck got no hives." He never knew until he passed away 10 yrs later.

P.S. I guess what I was trying to say was if they reduced the % and didn't say anything I doubt andyone would know. I know by law they couldn't do that. But I am just saying.
